Is the 16” Intel MacBook Pro still worth buying in 2026?

For the right buyer it's a bargain: desktop-grade Core i7/i9 power, a big 16” Retina display, four Thunderbolt 3 ports and superb speakers — at a fraction of the £2,400+ launch price. It runs macOS 26 Tahoe (the final Intel release) and it's the last MacBook Pro that dual-boots Windows via Boot Camp. If you don't need Windows or x86 software, the Apple Silicon 16” models are faster and cooler.
Can it really run Windows?

Yes — natively. Boot Camp partitions the SSD and boots real Windows 10 on the hardware (not a virtual machine), with the Radeon Pro graphics driving it; Windows 11 is possible with community workarounds. Apple Silicon Macs can't do this — this is the last MacBook Pro with native Windows.
Core i7 or Core i9?

The i7 (6-core) flies through everyday and office work. The CTO Core i9s (8-core/16-thread, often with 32–64GB memory and upgraded Radeon Pro graphics) were £3,000+ builds — worth it for sustained CPU work like compiling, simulation or batch exports. Most of our i9s are original configure-to-order machines you couldn't buy off the shelf.
What's the difference between Fair, Good and Excellent?
